First off, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our immersive workshop with Livi Wilmore!
Livi guided us through the intuitive and powerful tools of Sculpt GL and 8th Wall, showing how anyone, regardless of experience, can dive into digital sculpting without the need for expensive software or downloads. With just a browser and a willingness to experiment, our participants quickly found themselves immersed in the possibilities of 3D modeling and AR. (alongside the challenges!) Since it was all done in browser-based platforms, anyone could take part, not just those with high-end PCs.
Thanks Livi for the suggestion of having us 3D model a croissant- making sure it had that perfect golden-brown shine in with texture painting, the process was both a technical challenge and a hilarious group effort.

That being said, we did run into some teething problems, particularly towards the end of the session when slow internet made things tricky. Additionally, Liam was the only one who managed to get the AR app working successfully! Still, the workshop was a fantastic learning experience, showing the potential and accessibility of these tools while highlighting areas for improvement in future sessions.
Beyond the fun, this workshop also opened up important conversations about the role of AR across different sectors. Livi shared insights into how AR is being used in storytelling, heritage projects, and creative industries to preserve lost histories and challenge perspectives. It was inspiring to see how technology can be a tool not just for entertainment, but for education, activism, and artistic expression.

Once again, we’re grateful to everyone who attended, brought their energy, and contributed to such a fantastic session. And of course, a massive thank you to Livi Wilmore for sharing her expertise and passion with us. I can’t wait to see how you all continue to experiment with digital sculpting and AR in your own projects. Until next time—keep creating, keep exploring, and maybe go make a few more digital croissants while you’re at it! -Tom
