Last November, Treadgolds Community Space hosted Resonate exhibition. The outcome of an artist development programme where over six months, five groups of local artists embarked on a unique journey of discovery, pushing the boundaries of how we engage with memories through art and emerging technologies. For it's first edition Resonate worked with:

XR ARTIST LARA KOBIESSI
FILM MAKER RIYADH HAQUE
PUPPETEER TERESSA GRIMALDI
CONTEMPORARY DANCER CALLUM BOWMAN
CHOREOGRAPHER HAYLEY JANE SIMMONS
ARTIST COLLECTIVE BOREDOMRESEARCH What made Resonate especially compelling was how it forced us to consider the future. With technologies like XR, AI, and digital storytelling becoming more integrated into art, what will our memories look like in the coming decades? Will they still feel intimate and personal, or will they be transformed into shared, even commercial, experiences? The works on display suggested that, while technology can distance us from memory’s emotional core, it also has the power to deepen our engagement with it, offering new perspectives and experiences.

The program’s long-term vision for Resonate was also hinted at throughout the evening. Conversations flowed about how this work could expand and evolve—how new mediums and voices might be included in future iterations. This exhibition wasn’t an endpoint but the beginning of a dialogue about the intersection of art, technology, and memory, a conversation that feels more urgent than ever as we continue to adapt to an increasingly digital world.
